No CV, no limits: New career pathway opens for Grimsby locals ready to inspire the next generation
An exciting new opportunity has launched in Grimsby for anyone ready to make a real difference in their community, regardless of background, education, or career history.
National Employer Training (NET) and Horizon Youth Zone are calling on people from all walks of life to step forward and join a movement that’s about more than work: it’s about purpose. Whether you’re a builder, a chef, a delivery driver, a stay-at-home parent, a barber, a student, or a retiree looking for something more, if you have the passion to support and inspire young people, this could be your moment.
Free training to launch your youth career
Starting 21st July 2025, NET is running a free two-week training course designed to help everyday people develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge to begin a paid career as a Youth Worker. At the end of the course, every participant will receive a guaranteed interview with Horizon Youth Zone, Grimsby’s state-of-the-art new youth facility due to open next year.
This initiative removes all the traditional barriers. There’s no CV required, no formal qualifications needed, and no experience in youth work expected. What matters is who you are, not what’s on paper. If you’ve got the drive, energy, and commitment to shape the future, Horizon wants to hear from you.
Who is Horizon?
Once opened, Horizon will become part of the growing OnSide Network of 15 existing Youth Zones, which support over 50,000 young people every year. With a membership fee of just £5 per year and 50p per visit, Horizon will offer North East Lincolnshire’s young people aged 8 to 19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs) access to world-class facilities. These include an indoor climbing wall, a four-court sports hall, a music room with a recording studio, a fully equipped gym, a dance and drama studio, a 3G kick pitch, and more.
However, its true power will come from the people inside: local role models, mentors, and youth workers who show up every day to guide and empower the next generation.
This is a unique chance for residents to take the first step into a genuinely rewarding career that gives back to the town while building a strong and purposeful future for themselves. Full and part-time roles will be available, with further development and training offered through the national OnSide Youth Zones network.
