CONCOM returns with exciting new partnerships

The Humber Contractor Competency Forum, known as CONCOM, has resumed its vital work in 2025.

The scheme, which has been an essential part of the Humber region’s industrial landscape for over 20 years, continues to provide a platform for promoting contractor safety, competence, and best practices across key sectors.

CONCOM is a joint project between several Humber Bank sites and their contractors to monitor and promote competency in the contractor base. The auditing scheme ensures that contractors are properly vetted before working on industrial sites. The goal is to provide a single, unified audit system that meets the safety and competency requirements of multiple clients, saving time, and reducing duplication.

In a major update, the forum has partnered with National Employer Training (NET), a collaboration that will enhance the scheme by offering a wealth of funded training opportunities and bespoke programs for both clients and contractors. This new partnership enhances CONCOM’s mission by expanding its training offerings, improving contractor development, and ultimately raising competency levels across the board.

Paul Beven, Chairman of CONCOM, said:

“After cutting ties with a previous initiative provider, we found a gap in contractor competency management and networking opportunities, leading several clients to express interest in continuing the scheme.

“Both the CONCOM committee and client base are eager to expand and strengthen the CONCOM scheme in 2025 and beyond, with the support of NET, particularly in the Humber area and beyond.”

Jamie Green, Executive Director of NET, said:

“The strengthened partnership with NET promises to take the scheme to new heights. With increased access to funded training, bespoke courses, and continued auditing support, the scheme is well-positioned to support the growing needs of both clients and contractors in the Humber region and beyond.”

NET will provide access to a variety of funded training courses including IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications, as well as safety passports, LGV licences, and dangerous goods driving certifications.
