SIA – Door Supervisor

This Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) prepares participants for a career in the private security industry as a licensed SIA Door Supervisor. The course provides essential training in customer service, conflict resolution, and safety awareness, all tailored to real-life security scenarios. It’s ideal for those looking to work in licensed venues, events, retail security, and night-time economy roles. This programme covers all aspects of door supervision including working in the private security industry and door supervision.

SWAP Qualifications:

Participants will work towards achieving the following:

  • Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (SIA Licence-Linked)
  • First Aid
  • Physical Intervention / Conflict Management
  • Understanding the Importance of Safeguarding + Prevent
  • Employability Skills (optional/enhancement depending on Employer Request )
  • Functional Skills in English or Maths (if required)

On successful completion, participants will be eligible to apply for their SIA Licence (application supported and fee will be covered on completion of full course).

Entry Level:

  • Aged 19+
  • Must be eligible for public funding (e.g., Universal Credit, JSA, ESA)
  • A good standard of English and communication skills
  • Must pass an SIA-mandated identity and criminal record check
  • Those looking for a career change (currently employed) must be paid less than £25,000 per year to receive full funding for this course.
  • This training requires a reasonable level of physical fitness. It does not exclude people with disabilities but all injuries must be notified in advance of the course

Delivery Methods:

  • Classroom-based training with a qualified tutor
  • Practical role-play and scenario-based activities
  • Mock assessments and exam preparation
  • 1:1 learner support and coaching throughout the course
  • Typically delivered over 3 weeks full time (0830hrs – 1600hrs)

What Next:

Once qualified, participants can:

  • Apply for their SIA Door Supervisor Licence
  • Move directly into employment with our partner employers
  • Access ongoing support with CV writing, job applications, and interviews
  • Progress into related roles such as CCTV operator, event steward, or security team leader
