Our Hospitality and Catering SWAP is the perfect introduction to one of the UK’s most exciting and sociable sectors. Whether you’re looking to work in restaurants, cafés, hotels, catering companies, or event venues, this programme gives you the essential skills to get started — and the confidence to grow.

Designed to support those new to the industry, this short, hands-on course focuses on practical skills, customer care, and safety standards, all delivered with real insight into what employers are looking for.

SWAP Qualifications & Workshops:

Learners will complete:

  • Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills
    Helps build personal confidence, interview readiness, time management, and communication in a workplace context.
  • Level 2 Award in Customer Service
    Prepares learners to deliver exceptional front-of-house service and professional customer care across a variety of hospitality settings.
  • Health and Safety Workshop
    Focuses on workplace safety, hazard awareness, and legal responsibilities specific to hospitality environments.
  • Food Safety Workshop (Level 2 aligned)
    Teaches food hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and correct storage and preparation — essential for any food-handling role.

Entry Level:

  • Aged 19+
  • Eligible for public funding (e.g. Universal Credit, JSA, ESA)
  • Friendly, motivated individuals who enjoy working with people and being part of a team
  • Must be able to follow hygiene and safety instructions in busy environments

Delivery Methods:

  • Delivered face-to-face over 2 weeks
  • Practical, workshop-style sessions with real-life hospitality scenarios
  • Led by tutors with industry experience in catering, customer service, and events
  • Supportive environment with 1:1 mentoring available

What Next:

Once the course is completed, learners can:

  • Apply for roles such as Kitchen Assistant, Waiting Staff, Catering Assistant, Barista, or Hotel Receptionist
  • Progress into further training including:
    • Food Hygiene Level 3
    • HACCP for Catering Level 3
    • Barista or Front-of-House Skills
