This Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) is designed for individuals looking to start a career as a CCTV Operator in the private security industry. The course provides essential training in surveillance operations, legal requirements, and control room procedures, preparing learners to monitor public spaces safely and lawfully.
It’s ideal for those interested in working in retail environments, local authority surveillance, events, or transport monitoring.
SWAP Qualifications:
Participants will achieve:
- Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance)
A regulated qualification developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It provides the necessary skills and knowledge to apply for an SIA CCTV Licence and work lawfully as a CCTV operative. - Level 2 in GDPR
Equips learners with the understanding of data protection regulations crucial to surveillance work. - Level 1 Award in Customer Service
Enhances communication and frontline service skills to support interaction with the public or stakeholders.
Entry Level:
- Aged 19+
- In receipt of a qualifying benefit (Universal Credit, JSA, ESA)
- Must complete an initial English and maths assessment
- Eligible to undergo an SIA-mandated criminality and identity check
Delivery Methods:
- 1 week full-time course
- Classroom-based teaching with qualified instructors
- Practical simulations using CCTV scenarios
- Group activities, discussion, and exam prep
- 1:1 support throughout
