Our Aspiring Educators SWAP is the perfect starting point for anyone considering a career as a Teaching Assistant or in support roles within schools and colleges. This two-stage programme equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to thrive in an educational setting.

Alongside nationally recognised qualifications, learners receive first-hand mentoring from an experienced education specialist, offering real insight into the role and responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant.

SWAP Qualifications:

This SWAP is delivered in two key stages:

Initial Training:

  • Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools and Colleges
    Introduces learners to key policies, safeguarding practices, and what to expect in a school environment.
  • Level 1 Award in Employability Skills
    Builds workplace confidence with a focus on communication, teamwork, and professionalism.

Progression Route:

  • Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges
    A more in-depth qualification that prepares learners for classroom support roles with an understanding of child development, SEN, and school frameworks.
  • Level 2 Safeguarding and Prevent Duty Training
    Critical knowledge for anyone working with children and young people, covering child protection, online safety, and identifying potential radicalisation.

Entry Level:

  • Aged 19+
  • No prior experience required — just a passion for working with children or young people
  • Must meet eligibility for funding (e.g., Universal Credit or other benefits)
  • Basic digital literacy and ability to access online learning via Microsoft Teams

Delivery Methods:

  • Fully online via Microsoft Teams (4 Weeks inclusive of both elements)
  • A blend of live sessions, interactive tasks, and flexible self-study
  • Regular 1:1 check-ins and mentoring support
  • Access to learning materials, digital resources, and tutor guidance throughout

What Next:

Upon completion, learners can:

  • Progress into Teaching Assistant, Classroom Support, or Learning Mentor roles
  • Pursue further training such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Special Educational Needs (SEN) qualifications
  • Gain hands-on experience through volunteering or work placements in education   – Apply with us to become a volunteer to gain experience
  • Receive tailored support with job applications, CV writing, and interview pre checks
